What Industrial Area 6 is
Sharjah’s industrial belt is split into 18 numbered zones, and Industrial Area 6 is one of the busiest. It mixes warehouses, workshops, retail shops and labour camps with a limited number of apartments. The International School of Choueifat also has its campus on University City Road inside the zone.

Industrial Area 7 is being converted to investment, residential and commercial use, while Industrial Area 6 keeps its current industrial facilities and commercial structure.
What people come to Industrial Area 6 for
Most visitors come for secondhand goods and trade supplies. The main draws are:
- Used electronics: laptops, printers, appliances and mixed lots, with wholesalers concentrated around the J&P roundabout and behind the Macro supermarkets.
- Used car parts: engines, gearboxes, bumpers, headlights, doors, alternators, starters and AC compressors, sold from shops on Maliha Road and the numbered streets.
- Scrap and recycling: metal buyers, scrap yards and repair workshops.
- New household goods: appliances and kitchenware shops.

Test electrical items before paying, and ask for a receipt that shows the shop’s trade name. For parts, search the part name together with “Industrial Area 6” in your map app, which turns up dozens of shops faster than walking the streets.
How to get there
By car
Maliha Road runs along the southern edge and University City Road along the northern edge. From Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) leads onto Maliha Road, and Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Road (S116) connects the area to Al Majaz and Al Khan.
Search “Industrial Area 6, Sharjah” in Google Maps or Waze to reach the district, then switch to the shop name or street number. Addresses inside the zone use numbered streets such as 25 Street and 27 Street plus a shop number, and many describe a position by landmark: “behind Macro Supermarket” or “near J&P roundabout”.
Because the internal streets are being rebuilt, stay on Maliha Road or University City Road as long as possible and turn in at the junction nearest your destination. Daytime traffic on the surrounding roads is heavy.
By bus
The closest stops are on Maliha Road: 2nd Industrial Junction (A and B sides) and Municipality Office. From there you continue into the zone on foot or by taxi, depending on which block you need.
Parking rules & payment
Street parking in Industrial Area 6 is paid from 8 am to midnight, Saturday to Thursday. Sharjah moved the end of paid hours from 10 pm to midnight on 1 July 2026. Industrial Area 6 sits in a standard zone, so parking is free on Fridays and official public holidays.

- SMS: send plate source, plate number and hours to 5566, for example “SHJ 12345 2”. Each SMS adds 38 fils.
- App and machines: the Digital Sharjah app and ticket machines also take payment.
- Fine: parking without a valid ticket costs AED 150.
- Seasonal subscription: daily workers can buy one from Sharjah Municipality, and the extension to midnight did not change subscription prices.
Roadworks & the redevelopment
A 730-day redevelopment of Industrial Area 6’s infrastructure started in October 2025 and runs to around October 2027. The scope covers the whole internal network:
- 19 km of new internal roads and improved sidewalks
- dedicated parking for cars and heavy trucks
- a stormwater drainage network
- a sewage system with a pumping station and a dual main line
- a firefighting network with its own pumping station
- street lighting on all internal roads and camera coverage across the area
- upgraded water, gas, electricity, irrigation, wastewater and telecom networks
The project sits inside an AED 416 million programme that also covers Al Nahda and Industrial Area 7. A task force of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mubadara, the Department of Town Planning and Survey, Sharjah City Municipality, the Roads and Transport Authority and SEWA runs it.
