Bank of Baroda UAE: Accounts, Fees, Branches & How to Open One
Bank of Baroda UAE has five branches, nine electronic banking service units and 45 ATMs, and every account opening ends with a signature in front of a bank official. That single visit shapes how you apply, which location you pick and how soon you can start banking.
The bank has operated in the UAE since 1974 and is licensed and regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE. Its accounts split into personal savings and salary accounts, individual current accounts and business current accounts, with minimum balances that run from nothing to AED 2,000,000.
The minimum balance rule is where most of the cost sits. A savings account that drops under AED 1,000 is charged AED 100 a month plus 5% VAT, which adds up to AED 1,260 a year.

Accounts & who can open them
Bank of Baroda UAE offers six personal account types and six business current account types, and each one has its own minimum balance.
Personal accounts
| Account | Built for | Minimum balance | Shortfall charge per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Savings account | Resident GCC nationals and Indian nationals, including Persons of Indian Origin. Opens in AED or USD | AED 1,000 | AED 100 |
| Zero balance WPS savings account | Any resident individual permitted to work in the UAE. AED only, no joint accounts | None | None |
| Non-resident savings account | Individuals living outside the UAE with financial interests in it. Opens in AED, USD, GBP or EUR | AED 5,000 | AED 200 |
| Baroda Happiness Twin account | Current and savings combined in one account | None | None |
| Premium Salary account | Salary account with a cheque book and lower certificate fees | None | None |
| Special Current account | Individual current account with a cheque book | AED 2,500 | AED 100 |
Both the savings account and the WPS account earn 0.40% p.a. Neither comes with a cheque book, and both include a debit card, internet banking and mobile banking.
The balance you can keep decides the choice:
- Under AED 1,000 on average: the WPS, Twin and Premium Salary accounts carry no minimum balance.
- AED 1,000 or more: the standard savings account works, and USD is available as a second currency.
- Living outside the UAE: the non-resident account needs AED 5,000, and its internet banking access is view-only.
A minor’s savings account can run until the child turns 21, and only the father or mother can operate it.
Business accounts
Current accounts for businesses are open to registered entities such as LLCs, partnerships and free zone companies. The minimum is measured either as a monthly average or, for the Premium account, as a daily closing balance.
| Account | Minimum balance | Shortfall charge per month |
|---|---|---|
| General current | AED 10,000 monthly average | AED 200 |
| Flexi-Desk current | AED 25,000 monthly average | AED 500 |
| Gold current | AED 50,000 monthly average | AED 500 |
| Offshore current | AED 50,000 monthly average | AED 500 |
| Premium current | AED 100,000 daily closing | AED 500 |
| Platinum current | AED 2,000,000 monthly average | AED 1,000 |
The Offshore account is the only one with an account maintenance charge, set at AED 100. Account closure within six months costs AED 500 on the General, Gold and Offshore accounts and AED 1,000 on the Flexi-Desk and Premium accounts, while Platinum charges AED 1,500.
Businesses that pay salaries through the Wage Protection System pay a flat AED 30 to process a WPS file of up to 10 entries, then AED 1 for each extra entry.

How to open an account
Opening an account takes five steps, and the signature step is the one that needs a visit.
- Pick the account using the tables above, based on your balance, your nationality and whether your salary comes through WPS.
- Start the request with the Apply Online form on the product page, walk into a branch or EBSU, or call 800 BARODA (800 227632).
- Take the original documents, a set of copies and two passport-size photographs.
- Sign the application form in front of a bank official, who verifies the originals under Central Bank of the UAE KYC rules.
- Ask the branch to register you for mobile banking in the same visit, so the 4-digit mPIN reaches you by SMS.
The application form is signed in the presence of a bank official, so the opening is completed in person.

Digital banking & transfers to India

Digital banking covers internet banking through BarodaConnect, the bob World UAE app and the ATM network. The bob World UAE app runs on iPhone and Android, and it replaced the older M-Connect Plus UAE app.
Activation follows this order:
- Submit the registration form at your base branch.
- Receive the 4-digit mPIN by SMS.
- Download the app and confirm the silent SMS and the OTP prompt.
- Create a 4-digit application password and accept the terms.
- Replace the mPIN you received with one of your own.
The app handles balance checks, mini statements, transfers, fixed and recurring deposit openings, credit card payments, cheque book requests and a branch and ATM locator.
| Channel | Transfer type | Per transaction | Per day |
|---|---|---|---|
| Internet banking | Within bank, interbank or Rapid Funds to India | AED 100,000 | AED 200,000 |
| Mobile app | Third party within the bank | AED 20,000 | AED 40,000 |

| Mobile app | Rapid Funds to India | AED 40,000 | AED 40,000 |
| Mobile app | Credit card payment | AED 20,000 | AED 25,000 |
Rapid Funds to India carries no fee through internet banking, mobile banking or ATMs. At a branch it costs AED 2 for a Bank of Baroda account in India and AED 5 for another bank.
Debit card limits depend on the card variant:

|---|---|---|
| Cash withdrawal per transaction | AED 10,000 | AED 15,000 |

| Purchases at shops and online per day | AED 25,000 | AED 50,000 |
Both cards allow up to 10 withdrawals a day, and the first three contactless payments of the day, each up to AED 500, need no PIN. The bank’s own ATMs charge nothing for withdrawals, deposits, balance inquiries, mini statements, PIN changes, Rapid Funds to India or bulk cheque deposits of up to 20 leaves.
Loans & deposits
The salary-linked personal loan goes up to AED 500,000 with repayment over up to 48 months. Car loans run up to 48 months for new cars and 36 months for used cars.
